New York, New York!

Ok, again some time has passed and we do have something to write again! Wohoo, whee!! You guys ready?!?! Here we go! :)

After a wicked night out, again :), we decide it's time to move on. Thanks guys Buffalo was great! Though some really weird people live there.

Wed 3th

Aah, no hang over, YESH! We are ready to haul our ass to some place. Small problemo, we don't know which city to target next. Everyone keeps telling how nice Montreal is but there really isn't enough time to go up there if we want to hit New York this weekend. And of course we want to avoid going through the border too many times in a small period of time. We might be smuggling drugs! Oh well, rock paper scissors and Boston it is! Or is it....? We get downstairs and try to start up Cierra and.... " " <-- exactly, that is nothing. She won't start that beautiful purr that she does :( Luckily we find a friendly neighbor to help us jump start her and then... 'on the road again' as the song goes.
Cierra, Joe, Sakari and a friendly neighbor.

417km of straight road ahead, 696km total to Boston.

We arrive to Boston sometime 1 0'clock in the morning. The Youth Hostel is booked up so it's time to get our first experience sleeping and the car. We find the busiest street with the most light and sleep there ;) Oh joy! Before hitting the 'sack' we find our selves in a 7/11 and get some hot dogs. Mmmm... food :D. Bed time!

Sakari is scared and Juval excited.

Thur 4.6

Hnnggh.... Morning. Back aches, ass is numb but we're good :D Time to go to the hostel for some breakfast and then hit the town. On our way to the bookstore Barnes & Noble some random dude stops us. "Hey guys I have the greatest story ever!" He talks about buying some ice coffee and wanting some more milk in his coffee, which he didn't apparently get easily. "I mean what's the problem, there are millions and millions and millions of cows and billions and billions of gallons of milk, so why the f*ck can't i get some milk in my coffee!" Oh well ;) we guess he got the milk in his coffee anyway eventually :)

We get back to the hostel. And yeah! Some beer tasting! Sounds like a plan for the Finns :D. We find ourselves with some people all over the world in Harpoon's Brewery somewhere in the docks. The pints are quite small but we make most of what we have and the short time that we have. Aah good.

2 local ppl, Sakari, Gina, Sarah and guy from Taiwan
getting all pissed with some free beer.

We buy some beer and hide it really discreetly in paper bags.
Juval, Jonas, Sakari and "Australia"

After some beer everyone feels like it's time for some bar hopping. We get back to the hostel, drop off stuff and have pizza and pitchers in a near by pizzeria. After that down to Cambridge and from there on end - vague memories :) But eventually we find ourselves back in the hostel :P

Basically two pitchers and some empty pizza plates.

Sadly we didn't see all the glorious thing we were supposed to in Boston. We missed hump back whale seeing, kayaking, MIT, Harvard and USS Constitution and something else :P But we had a blast! Thanks everyone!

Breakfast and then a small drive a head. Sakari is not feeling fit to drive so Juval grabs the wheel. We promised to take two girls Alexa and Clara from Barcelona with us and drop them off in NYC. A lonely drive, everyone dozes from time to time, except the driver (bitter complaints) :)

Sakari's time to turn in NYC.

First thing in NYC, it's time for food. We drive around in the terrible traffic. So if you're planning on driving in NY forget about it. It's not worth it during rush hour. We drop of our car in a parking lot and wander around the streets looking for an open network. We end up in Big Apple Hostel right next to Time Square in the end after 4 hours of walking around.

Time for some sightseeing right away. We go to Time Square and end up in a stand-up comedy club. It's great! We laugh our asses off. Then, well, the club had two drink minimum so we're on a good roll, again :) We're not going to bed are we ;) We go to pacha, which is a sucky bar with very high prices. We end up being there really late and get our asses back to the hostel at 5.30 am. Why the hell did we even take a hostel? ;)

Uuu... i can has see lightz!

Time Square, let's get pissed!

Sakke with his "slavery gets shit done" shirt in Pacha.
Some black dudes weren't really happy ;) But we're still alive :)

Just for the hell of it, some information on what we paid on some stuff:
  • Parking lot 24h, 65$
  • Hostel per person 43$
  • Pacha entrance 30$ per person.
  • Pacha drinks 10$

Sat 6.6

Shit! It's 10:50 am. We need to check out at 11. No time to do anything except pack our stuff and dress up. We're tired as hell. Next we find a cheaper youth hostel in upper west side. We get Cierra and drive her over there.

Juval tired as hell and then some.

Time to do some laundry. We have no clean clothes and after Pacha everything stinks. At the youth hostel we basically get naked, uu yeah, and throw everything in the machine and hope nobody walks in :)

Next in plan is some sightseeing! So, we get the subway and head to downtown. On the way we meet up with two girls from our hostel, Ortal and Harriet. We're all new in town so we decide to walk around together. First stop Toys R Us on Time Square! We mess around the whole place, see T-Rex that was used in Jurassic Park, Spiderman (a guy with some really really tight tights and I must say he's pretty flexible =) and play around with a blue bouncing ball.

Statue of liberty, check - seen that.

T-Rex

Next on the task list is to really see the Statue of Liberty. We grab a taxi from Time Square and find our selves in Staten Island ferries, which btw are free. Then some walking around, Wall Street, ground zero and the famous charging bull. We also pass a film set on the way and wonder what movie they're making. Then we move a long to little italy and grab some pizza. We have to stop there 'cause it says in front: "Vodka pizza". Now we can't miss that now can we.

Sakke and Statue of Liberty

Ground Zero

The bull thingy and a creep on top.

'Mela' A Finnish joke ;)

Back to the hostel and again we go to see some stand-up. This time it's a place called underground lounge in upper west side. The place is nice but the comedians OKish maybe they should have stayed also underground ;) Well we laugh a bit and make jokes on their expense and head downtown. We're getting hungry and we definitely want to eat Chinese. Well, what else could be more than an appropriate place to eat some Chinese than Chinatown. Grab a cab and off we go! 2:00 am and voilá, Chinatown! New York City's finest noodles and really cheap! Ok, now that we're full i guess it's back to the hostel. It was a stupid trip but it was phun ;)

Sun 7.6

We get some Chinese again from the local restaurant right across the street from our youth hostel. We eat up and there's this old man with his trolley in the restaurant. We watch as the cashier of the place runs over the old man with his own trolley. Good food and a show, nice ;) We like the place.

We heard there's a Puerto Rican parade in downtown so we want to see it. We head midtown and we'll no parade. It's next week. Oh well, life sucks but we did find this market place with some kewl stuff. We get our selves some new shades and Sakari buys himself a ring with a nice gecko on it.

New cool shades!

Ok, we saw the market. Met up with Richard there and well, what's next you might ask. Well I guess it's obvious. We find ourselves queuing at tkts on Time Square. Broadway show "The Toxic Avenger" here we come! The show was awesome :D

Richard and a small monkey boy in
front of the theater
.

After the show we are so psycked out so we need to do something. Well we hit the bars! We grab a cab and tell the driver to drive us somewhere nice. The driver is totally perverted, so I'm not just making this thing up :) Apparently he likes girls from Newcastle, England :) So the cabbie drives us to Meatpacking district. We grab a couple of beers and talk shit. Then we crash in to some graduation party of these theater guys.

Party crashers! :)

Sakari goes to washroom at the graduation party - Loses his new ring -
Finds it again back at the hostel from his underwear. Ergo the hand up and this picture :)

(Richard at the background ready to kick Sakari's ass.)

Day 8.6

Alrighty, time to leave the youth hostel and change back to couch surfing mode. We head out in the morning after again doing our laundry. This time actually we had some clothes on. We're staying in Brooklyn in a penthouse this time with like 15 other people, nice! :D We arrive to the place and introduce ourselves. We find out that there are also some other finns staying at the place.

The famous Brooklyn bridge.

Juval starts writing the blog and it's really taking him ages. Well he is a special boy so sometimes things take their time ;). Then we hear that there is a concert in a near by park. We head out there and it's full of people.

People

We really can't see jack shit so we decide to head back home but first grab something to eat. We stop at this really cool hamburger joint called 'Five Guys'. The burgers were really good. Damn :D We could eat a couple more. Then it's time to head back home. Juval keeps writing the blog and Sakari is being charming and sociable.

Lights out! Night!
